Resourcing Tomorrow 2025 brought together key players from the global mining landscape to connect and gain insight into how mining will power the future.
Resourcing Tomorrow 2025 proved once again to be the signature event on the mining industry’s calendar.
This year’s theme, ‘Securing Metals and Minerals: Empowering the Future,’ brought together industry experts to tackle mining’s most pressing challenges and unearth new opportunities.
As the Anchor of London Mining Week, the event boasted over 2,300 attendees from 180+ global mining organisations and over 90 countries.
Taking place between 2nd and 4th December, Resourcing Tomorrow welcomed a diverse range of international mining organisations, from established decision-makers to emerging start-ups, each sharing key insights into the trends and global influences impacting critical minerals and metals.
Attendees gained deep industry knowledge from an abundance of keynote speakers, who covered topics such as the role of critical minerals in global geopolitics, circularity and sustainability, the demands of the electric vehicle supply chain, the growing influence of artificial intelligence on mining innovation and transformation, and employee well-being and skills development.
Other key highlights included thought-provoking panel discussions, interactive roundtables, specialist networking opportunities, and showcasing next-generation technologies and solutions set to take the industry by storm.
DERSERVED RECOGNITION
The Resourcing Tomorrow Outstanding Achievement Awards and Gala Dinner celebrated mining excellence and the most exceptional contributions to the sector through a variety of awards and recognitions. Key accolades included:
- Rising Star of the Year Award – Nicola Jackson, Vice President of Business Development, Sibanye-Stillwater
- Mining Leader of the Year Award – Shaun Usmar, CEO, Vale Base Metals
- Women in Mining – Dr Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, Executive Director of Women in Mining Africa and Group Managing Director of Richflood Ltd
- Lifetime Achievement Award – Robert Friedland, Founder and co-Chairman, Ivanhoe Mines
The awards also served to highlight top mining companies who are making a difference to the industry with standout projects.
For instance, Pan African Resources won the Best ESG Initiative by a Mining Company for its Mogale Tailings Retreatment project in South Africa, which saw the company transform dormant gold resources into sustainable production, ultimately increasing its output of the critical mineral.
Moreover, the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative received the Best ESG Industry Initiative of the Year Award for its championing of responsible mining practices, creating four recognised global industry standards under a single governance framework.
The London Metal Exchange also received the coveted award through the promotion of its sustainable metals premium pricing model, which promotes the use of sustainable metals and incentivises environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-compliant production and training practices.
Winners of the Exploration Discovery of the Year Award included Empire Metals for its Pitfield titanium discovery in Western Australia – one of the world’s largest and highest-grade titanium resources in the world.
Endeavour Mining was also proud to receive the award, attributed to its Assafou gold discovery project on the Tanda Iguela property in the Ivory Coast.
FACILITATING CHANGE
A cornerstone of the event, the Resourcing Tomorrow Government Roundtable united more than 20 government ministers from over 30 countries alongside senior mining executives, financiers, and industry experts.
The prestigious forum for discussion delved into how governments, the mining industry, and financial institutions can collaborate to boost global critical mineral supply in order to the meet the demands of the ongoing energy transition.
Insightful discussions focused around increasing geopolitical resilience, mobilising sustainable capital, and driving innovation through circular economy models.
Participants of the Government Roundtable grasped the opportunity to have a voice on how best to shape policy frameworks, strengthen supply chains, and align strategies to drive the industry forwards.
As a brand-new addition to the event this year, Leadership Roundtables comprised exclusive, closed-door discussions between industry leaders in seminar and workshop formats.
These roundtables act as a call to action, fostering an environment for proactive change and making room for written recommendations to the industry’s most pressing challenges, thus helping to guide future initiatives.
All conversations were strictly confidential, encouraging an open and collaborative dialogue channel. Cooperation was equally encouraged in a more physical sense by the purposefully structured seating arrangements, whereby 18 panellists were seated in a U-shape to further encourage flow of discussion.
With 11 90-minute sessions throughout the course of the event, the Leadership Roundtables sufficiently delivered impact, coordinating progression across the entire industry landscape.
SHAPING THE INDUSTRY’S FUTURE
Resourcing Tomorrow aims to create a bright pathway for mining’s future leaders, who will be key to the industry’s evolution, opening the door to exciting, dynamic, and rewarding career opportunities through its NextGen Leaders Programme – connecting younger generations to mining’s key players.
Striving to bridge the gap between education and real-world careers, both students and recent graduates had access to exclusive networking and industry engagement events.
Similar opportunities were also available through the Resourcing Tomorrow Connect Platform, comprising 30-minute one-to-one meetings with industry experts and representatives, helping drive change.
As a standout feature of the event, the Women in Mining UK Lounge once again proudly highlighted the role of women in the sector and further promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion.
With an abundance of other opportunities to connect, whether on the Show Floor or at the many Pitch Battles, Resourcing Tomorrow continues to unite key mining players to deliver change and unlock new opportunities.
