World Hydrogen Italy is collaborating with the E-Talia Summit in Milan to provide three days of networking and strategising for Italy’s clean future.

ITALY SOARS TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The E-Talia Summit is Italy’s leading senior executive energy transition congress, co-located with World Hydrogen Italy in an exclusive new collaboration. Now in its third year, the event offers a vast selection of interactive debates on the future of the nation’s energy systems, covering every aspect of the value chain. Thanks to this year’s exciting new partnership with World Hydrogen Italy, E-Talia Summit is proud to produce an additional third day’s programming dedicated to clean hydrogen. This new event will tackle the full array of challenges involved in developing clean hydrogen, seen as a key component of Italy’s roadmap to eventual decarbonisation.

This focused, information-rich, single-day programme will cover topics ranging from national hydrogen strategy, to policy, regulation and permitting. Indeed, green hydrogen opportunities, low carbon blue hydrogen, usage case scenarios and industrial decarbonisation case studies, will all be extensively covered. It will also feature additional coverage of topics such as hydrogen valleys, pipelines, shipping, midstream and storage.

Eurowind Energy has described E-Talia as “a great summit, where you can meet the most active stakeholders from the wind and solar field in the Italian market”.

There will be plenty of designated time for making key connections throughout the daily itinerary. This will include networking lunches and regular espresso breaks to encourage a diverse range of productive industry conversations amongst attendees.

This event is just one of the many exciting opportunities planned throughout the series of ‘the world hydrogen leaders’ 2022 calendar. For example, across the year there is a world hydrogen mobility event in Hamburg during December, and a summit in Barcelona on ‘decarbonising the gas grid’, scheduled for May.

The vastly ambitious E-Talia Summit strives to unite project developers, traders, corporate energy buyers, equity investors, banks, government and all other key industry players across Italy’s clean energy value chain. The country is aiming to accelerate its energy transition and overcome the many challenges of the last decade. With steep targets, strong natural resources, talented and experienced clean energy executives in place, deployable capital, and a committed central government, the next decade is set to make large strides to a flexible, clean new energy system.

“Now in its third year, the event offers a vast selection of interactive debates on the future of the nation’s energy systems, covering every aspect of the value chain.”

SO WHY HYDROGEN IN ITALY?

Italy has promising potential to develop its own domestic green hydrogen industry given the extensive existing renewable energy assets, twinned with a modern country-wide gas transport network. Italy’s current market for heat and mobility is dominated mainly by fossil fuel imports, whereas a future transition to clean hydrogen on the eventual path to net zero, would capitalise on more of the energy value chain.

Italy is ideally located as a transit country, and with its existing pipelines already connecting Sicily with Tunisia, it can capitalise on these strong geographical benefits. Offshore wind and floating wind specifically could provide Italy with much of the future power to produce clean hydrogen going forward.

There are early indications to suggest that hydrogen could represent upwards of 25 percent of Italy’s energy usage by FED (Final Energy Demand) in 2050, depending on factors such as how the usage case scenarios develop. Italy is currently Europe’s fourth largest industrial economy, and the current grey hydrogen consumption (refineries and ammonia production) is equal to one percent of overall national energy consumption. Decarbonising this existing usage will be the first steps on the way to achieving a clean Italian hydrogen industry.

MORE ABOUT THE EVENT

This vibrant opportunity is set to feature more than 80 speakers, and over 30 hours of carefully curated content for all attendees’ consumption. Present at the event will be more than 250 participants from at least 25 different nations worldwide. A crucial element will be creating new connections with future clients, whilst catching up with peers through the many dedicated networking sessions. This is all made easier than ever when using the connective conference app.

This exciting event is being held between 26-28th April 2022, at the suitably impressive Four Seasons Hotel Milano, which E-Talia describes as “a first-class venue offering an entrepreneurial world of possibilities” making it a perfect location for this thrilling opportunity. Surrounded by Italy’s most desirable fashion giants, located in the beating heart of Milan’s fashion district, it’s a leisurely walk away from the iconic city’s most popular sights including Teatro Alla Scala as well as the Duomo. A 15th-century convent turned sophisticated garden retreat, this will provide the perfect hub for this unique opportunity.

Milan is overflowing with world-class museums, frescoed churches and contemporary art galleries, and the Four Seasons provides easy access to the city’s bustling streets as well as its scenic landscapes.
