MOL to support the CEE and Turkey Refining and Petrochemical Summit in Budapest this October

The CEE and Turkey Refining and Petrochemical Summit is the annual meeting place for refiners and petrochemical producers and the only event of its kind dedicated to the CEE and Turkey region. Taking place in Budapest, Hungary from the 13-15 October, the event will feature senior decision makers from across the region and their case studies, delivering unparalleled insight, critical analysis and clarity on the future of refining and petrochemicals in the region.

Cost disadvantages and tough regulations have made Europe the weakest link in global refining under strong import pressure. It might seem on the surface that Europe continues to struggle on while, globally, other regions’ competitive advantage grows. However, efforts to remain agile, innovate and drive results from what some argue are more favorable external conditions for European refiners cannot go unnoticed.

Investments at MOL in a challenging economic climate

MOL is an official supporter for the event this year in Budapest, and has recently posted its “best quarterly results ever”. According to MOL, “apart from the better margins, improving market demand and continuous internal efficiency improvement contributed to the record-high results to a large extent”.

Discussing the successes and future investment plans at MOL will be Krisztina Szabó Petrényiné, Petrochemical Product Line Group Manager, and David Pullan, Group Downstream Development Senior Vice President.

The event is also delighted to have the following senior representatives from the region as part of the distinguished speaker panel, to reveal insightful case studies and project experience:

  • Kenan Yavuz, CEO, SOCAR Turkey
  • Robert Storey, Managing Director, SOCAR Turkey
  • Ziya Gurun, Izmit Refinery Manager, Tupras
  • Giacomo Rispoli, Executive Vice President, ENI
  • Giordano Serafini, Head of Production Planning, OMV Petrom
  • Florian Constantinescu, Secretary General, Refining and Petrochemicals, Saras
  • Branislav Kacko, Project Manager, Slovnaft

Key issues and topics discussed will include:

  • Realising value further downstream through a petrochemical spotlight
  • Market perspectives and the impact of international supply and demand dynamics on European refining
  • Energy efficiency
  • Oil price and its impact downstream
  • Operational excellence in the CEE and Turkey region

Following the two-day conference there will also be an exclusive visit to MOL’s Danube Refinery on 15 October.
