Powering lower-carbon sourcing decisions
Turning supplier averages into actionable insights
Key components of the initiative include:
- Primary data engine (EcoVadis): Facilitates direct supplier reporting, collaboration, and upskilling. Supplier data is evaluated through a four-level reliability framework to deliver instant insights.
- Carbon accounting engine (Watershed): Centralises, models, and analyses climate data, offering audit-ready reporting for enterprises.
Building a connected carbon ecosystem
The collaboration supports EcoVadis’ mission to establish the most interconnected Carbon Data Network, complementing existing partnerships with platforms like Sweep and Normative. By uniting data providers, analytics tools, and suppliers, EcoVadis is creating a collective effort to increase reporting precision, transparency, and scale global climate action.
“We’re thrilled to see our customers adopting sophisticated scope 3 measurement tools,” said David Ban, Head of Data Partnerships at Watershed. “Our partnership with EcoVadis exemplifies our belief that actionable, accurate and accessible supplier-specific data is at the core of driving real decarbonisation.”
Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Calculator
The EcoVadis PCF Calculator is a free tool for suppliers, available in 13 languages, that helps companies calculate product-level carbon footprints. It covers 12 key industrial sectors, including plastics, metals, electronics, and machinery/equipment.
To address the trust gap in reporting, EcoVadis now assigns one of four Carbon Data Reliability Levels to all supplier-reported Scope 1–3 metrics in its Carbon Data Network. By cross-referencing supporting evidence, performing best-practice checks, and detecting outliers, the system provides full clarity on which data is reliable for carbon accounting.
