Former Dyson Innovation Director, Herve Dehareng, takes the helm at clean technology start-up Luthmore, which has a strong patent for a first-of-its-kind product.

REVOLUTIONISING HOME HEATING

Luthmore, founded by two former Dyson engineers, is pioneering clean technology with its battery-enabled boiler, offering a more efficient, zero emission alternative to conventional gas combi boilers and setting it apart in the market.

Furthermore, the company’s new CEO, Herve Dehareng, aims to capitalise on a market poised for regulatory change, bringing a proven track record that reassures investors and partners of strong leadership.

Dehareng’s appointment coincides with a successful £5.5 million oversubscribed fundraising campaign, totalling £12.4 million, reflecting strong investor confidence and market interest.

This capital-raising effort was supported by strategic national and international trade and private investors, including housing developers, management companies, and the British Business Bank, reflecting strong interest in practical solutions for the multi-billion-pound transition to home heating systems.

As CEO, Dehareng has set an ambitious goal – to position Luthmore as the equivalent of electric vehicles (EVs) in the home heating sector within three years.

The strategy aims to leverage forthcoming regulatory changes, such as the 2026 Future Homes Standard, expected to shape market standards and accelerate adoption.

A VISION FOR ZERO EMISSION

Before joining Luthmore, Dehareng led the global launch of various Dyson products, including hand dryers, bladeless fans, and heaters.

Additionally, Dehareng held senior roles at Accenture and worked on major product launches, including Oral-B Pulsar and Gillette Fusion5.

This experience aligns him perfectly with Luthmore’s approach of a commercial and strategic initiative that combines significant investment, a high-quality product, and favourable regulatory timing to seize a vast market opportunity in residential decarbonisation.

Luthmore’s business model focuses on developers, social housing providers, and homeowners with a scalable, minimally disruptive solution, demonstrating early traction and readiness for large-scale deployment in B2B markets.

The boiler fits within the same space as an existing combi boiler and can deliver hot water at up to 30 kilowatts (kW) and central heating at 10 kW, without requiring radiator upgrades.

This groundbreaking product uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology to store off-peak energy and release it during peak hours.

It can also integrate with solar power, enabling consumers to store energy when it is cheaper and cleaner, either from the grid or through seamless integration with domestic solar generation.

GROWTH THROUGH INVESTMENT AND INNOVATION

Luthmore has secured enough substantial investment to support its upcoming growth and expansion across the UK.

Investors in this latest funding round include major housing developers, residential management companies, high-net-worth individuals, and plumbing agencies looking for a cost-effective hot water and heating solution for small- and medium-sized properties.

Notably, the investment includes £1 million from the British Business Bank, provided through the South West Investment Fund (SWIF) and managed by The FSE Group.

This investment, coupled with a recent leadership appointment, comes at a critical time as the publication of the Warm Homes Plan and Future Homes Standard approaches.

These initiatives will outline the UK government’s policies to accelerate the installation of low-carbon technologies, such as the Luthmore boiler, in homes across the UK.

Dehareng emphasises that the boiler will contribute to the government’s decarbonisation targets, offering homeowners, developers, councils, and social housing providers a clean heat solution.

The company’s mission is to deliver a meaningful advancement in home energy, inspiring confidence amongst homeowners, developers, and policymakers in a zero emission solution.

The Luthmore boiler has been specifically engineered to tackle the key challenges faced by small- to medium-sized homeowners and developers in transitioning away from gas to electric combi boilers.
