HEALTH AND WELLNESS START-UP RAISES $298 MILLION IN FUNDING

Although continuously evolving at a rapid pace, the administrative needs of the modern-day healthcare system present increasing pressures to frontline workers, who regularly require time-critical information to effectively deliver an appropriate standard of care.

The rise of standardised electronic health record (EHR) systems in the last 30 years has evolved to become an abundant source of medical information, which can be hard to navigate when required in urgent care settings.

Producing a bold solution to this mounting problem, Function Health is offering a step-change in the optimisation of healthcare workflows, recently raising $298 million in a Series B round of funding that has boosted the company’s total capital to $2.5 billion.

Led by Redpoint Ventures, other participants of the funding round included a16z, Aglaé Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Battery Ventures, as well as notable NBA athletes Allen Crabbe, Blake Griffin, and Taylor Griffin, who each have a keen interest in a healthy lifestyle.

A NEW LEVEL OF HEALTH MONITORING

This significant round of funding represents a shift in the industry’s perception of artificial intelligence (AI) in the health and wellness space.

Established in Austin, Texas, Function Health is at the helm of data insights, allowing an increasingly health-conscious generation to monitor how their body changes and highlight potential early indicators of thousands of diseases.

The healthcare start-up utilizes over 100 lab tests, conducted once a year, to paint a clear picture of a person’s health. The results of these tests generate personalised and in-depth health insights that are overseen by leading clinicians who offer guidance on what to do next.

Following the initial tests, patients then receive additional check-ups to monitor and keep track of their body over the subsequent three to six months. This helps establish a long-term pattern of health that lets clinicians spot any potential disease indicators.

Function Health’s next-generation services sit at the forefront of the preventative health landscape, enabling patients to feel empowered through vital data insights.

With over 50 million lab tests conducted since its inception in 2023, Function Health’s impact has been recognized globally – featuring on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list in 2025 – making its latest AI roll-out highly anticipated.

MEDICAL INTELLIGENCE LAB

In conjunction with its recent round of funding, Function Health’s Medical Intelligence Lab (MI Lab) builds on its category of preventative health to create a ‘medical intelligence’ generative AI model that can be used to deliver highly personalised health insights.

The AI model is the brainchild of leading clinicians and researchers who have trained the platform to one day become indispensable to medical professionals.

MI Lab is purpose-built to be user-friendly and ensure information is easily accessible, offering an AI chatbot that utilises health data, lab results, doctors’ notes, and scans to provide trustworthy information and insightful guidance to professionals.

The platform is also Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certified, ensuring that patients’ data is fully protected and remains confidential.

Equipped with an impressive round of funding, Function Health’s MI Lab unlocks key insights in an abundance of health data, marking a new era in healthcare integration.
